Is the Comprehensive Copywriting Academy a Scam?
Filthy Rich Writer’s Copywriting Course Review
So you’ve just come across the Comprehensive Copywriting Academy (CCA) from Nicki Krawczyk’s company Filthy Rich Writer, and you need to know: is this legit? Is this a get-rich-quick scheme? Or can I really have a work from home writing job that makes me money?
Here’s the skinny: I purchased and completed this course, and now I write my own paychecks.

I’ll be honest: I had no idea what copywriting was until I saw an ad for Filthy Rich Writer.
If you had told me in March of 2020 that in six months I would become a successful entrepreneur after leaving my job in the middle of a global pandemic… I would have told you that’s not the craziest thing I’ve heard this year, but it’s close (remember murder hornets?). Fast forward to the fateful day I saw a social media ad for the Comprehensive Copywriting Academy and immediately Googled: is Filthy Rich Writer legit? And also, what does a copywriter do??
I was working in non-profit progam management at the time and had literally never heard of copywriting. It was clear that I wasn’t thriving under the 9-5 grind, and I desperately needed to find a path to make more money, have the flexibility to travel and do things that I love, and feel fulfilled. Could this crazy blend of writing, marketing, and business strategy be the answer? Was I about to become a remote freelance copywriter?
I was drawn to Nicki’s transparency that her copywriting academy was not for anyone looking to get rich quick but for people who wanted sustainable, achievable career training. My scam-sensor didn’t seem to be going off as I read online reviews like this one … so I took a leap of faith and committed to what I hoped would be the first step toward a career that made me happy.
And it has changed my life.
How to become a copywriter
…even if you don’t really know what copywriting is.
After a one-time payment (feeling so nervous that I was just sending money away into the ether and would never see it again), I was immediately sent a link to sign in to my new CCA account. Phew!
From there, I had access to:
The self-paced course that seriously takes you from clueless about copywriting to a marketing professional ready to start your own business and take over the world! (Okay, maybe not take over the world, but it is pretty empowering!).
Bonus training videos on specific aspects of copywriting, starting your own business, finding clients, pricing your services… the list goes on. I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve thought “I wish I knew how to do x,” and then I find a CCA video that teaches me exactly the skills I need.
A feedback & support group. I’ll be honest… I’m not that into Facebook groups and just wasn’t sure I would ever use this resource. Boy was was I wrong! This interactive group is an incredible mix of current students, successful “graduates,” and Filthy Rich Writer staff who give feedback on projects, offer advice, and answer every copywriting question under the sun.

And so I got to work watching the videos, doing the “homework” (practice projects), and getting feedback. I committed to spending 1 hour every day on the course, but you can work through the modules at whatever pace works for you! Even just 15 minutes a day is worth it. I finished all the main course trainings in one month, but it’s absolutely possible to do it in less.
Can you make money as a copywriter?
The great thing about Nicki’s course is that she doesn’t only teach you how to write stellar copy, she tells you how find clients and land work right away. (Learn more about Nicki and her background here.) You can follow a step-by-step process to create a portfolio, find clients, and get paid within days of finishing the course. This is what the course advertises, and that absolutely happened for me.
My first two projects as a freelance copywriter paid for the course fee, and then some. I wrote an e-mail sequence for one small business and revised a web page for another - and BOOM, investment returned. And I found those clients and secured that work by following the guidelines from the CCA course and getting advice (and encouragement!) from the Facebook group.
I now work with several clients each month and am building my business every day. I set my own hours, work safely from home, and have the freedom to choose who I work with and what projects I take on. Plus, I make more money working less hours than any other job I’ve ever had.
